Sardinia: A Horseback Journey to an Ancient Fishing Village

You'll ride through the open landscapes of western Sardinia, following long sandy tracks, pine forests and quiet wetlands towards the fishing village of Marceddì. Over several hours, the route moves away from the coast and deeper into the rural landscape, creating a slower way to discover this part of the island from horseback.

The Experience

Through Pine Forests and Wetlands

The journey begins along quiet trails shaded by pine trees before opening into the wider countryside of Arborea. We pass farmland, wetlands and stretches of untouched landscape, with the route changing gradually as we move towards the lagoon.

A Longer Ride through Sardinia

This is a more immersive horseback experience, covering around twenty-five kilometres over approximately five hours. The ride includes walking, trotting and galloping, making it especially suited to riders who already feel comfortable in the saddle.

Arriving in Marceddì

Eventually, we reach Marceddì, a traditional fishing village set beside the lagoon. The village offers a glimpse into a quieter side of Sardinia, with time to take in the surroundings before beginning the return journey.

Beyond the Experience

A packed lunch can be added for the day, allowing us to pause along the route and enjoy something simple before continuing through the countryside. Horse Country also offers shorter beach rides, sunset excursions and other equestrian experiences for guests wanting to explore more of Sardinia on horseback.
