We step inside a historic country house near Lamego for a cooking experience shaped by family traditions and the flavours of Northern Portugal. In an old kitchen warmed by a wood-burning hearth, we prepare a meal together before gathering around the table to enjoy what we have made—a personal and wonderfully unpolished way to discover the Douro through its food.

The Experience

The experience unfolds in the property’s historic kitchen, where a traditional wood-burning oven and fireplace preserve the atmosphere of an older Portuguese home. Rather than a polished culinary studio, the setting feels intimate and lived-in, connecting the cooking naturally to the history of the house.

Cooking Together

We take part in preparing a traditional meal, learning through conversation and hands-on cooking. The experience is relaxed rather than formal, with regional culinary traditions woven naturally into the afternoon as dishes gradually come together around the hearth.

From Kitchen to Table

Once the cooking is finished, we sit down to share the food we have prepared. The meal becomes the culmination of the experience: a chance to linger at the table, taste the results of our afternoon in the kitchen and experience the hospitality of a historic Douro country house.
