We stay in a small collection of traditional stone houses at the edge of the Douro Valley, where green hills descend towards a quiet stretch of the river. Contemporary interiors sit gently within the old rural architecture, while large windows keep us connected to the water and surrounding landscape. It is intimate, peaceful and made for days that unfold without a schedule.

A Riverside Home in the Douro

The houses have the feeling of a tiny rural village, combining traditional architecture with understated contemporary interiors. Each has its own kitchen, giving the stay an independent rhythm, while the surrounding river and hills remain part of the view.

Slow Mornings by the Water

Breakfast is waiting in our kitchen, with ingredients replenished daily and warm bread and fresh orange juice delivered each morning. With no fixed breakfast hours, mornings can begin slowly before we wander down towards the water or settle beside the outdoor pool.

Days Along the Douro

From the property, we can take complimentary kayaks or paddle boards onto the river, follow walking paths through the hills and along the banks, or simply spend the afternoon beside the pool. For a different perspective, private boat trips can also depart directly from the property's own jetty.

Beyond the Experience

A private boat journey along the Douro can be arranged, departing directly from the property, while nearby vineyards offer another way to discover the region through its wines. Meals can also be delivered to the house when arranged in advance, allowing us to spend an evening entirely within the quiet of the landscape.

An Invitation

This is a quieter side of the Douro, shaped less by plans than by the river itself. We wake slowly, take a kayak onto still water, walk through the surrounding hills and return for long afternoons beside the pool. A few days here are simply about having the space to settle into the landscape and follow its slower rhythm.
