Barcelona: A Slow Countryside Retreat beneath Montserrat
We stay within an old Catalan masia surrounded by forests, fields, and the quiet landscapes of the countryside, with Montserrat rising in the distance. Centuries of rural life remain present within the stone walls, where spaces once used for making wine and olive oil have been carefully preserved and given a new purpose. The feeling is warm and deeply connected to the land — a place where we can wake slowly, step outside into nature, and allow the rhythm of the countryside to shape our days.
A House Shaped by Time
There is history in almost every corner of the house. Old stone, timber, original wine spaces, and remnants of its agricultural past give the interiors a character that could never be recreated from new. Rather than feeling overly polished, the atmosphere retains the warmth and simplicity of an old family country home.
We can find a quiet corner to read, sit beside the fire when the weather turns cooler, or wander outside and take in the views. Life moves easily between the house and the surrounding landscape, making it tempting to spend an entire day without going particularly far.
Back to the Countryside
Nature is an essential part of staying here. Forests and rural paths surround us, inviting us to explore on foot or by bicycle and discover the quieter side of Catalonia. We can walk beneath the trees, follow trails through the countryside, or simply stop somewhere peaceful and listen to the landscape around us.
Those wanting to experience the surroundings more deeply can also choose from optional activities centered around nature and local traditions, from forest bathing and yoga to walks, tastings and workshops. Each gives us another way to experience the landscape, while leaving plenty of room for days with no plans at all.
Food, Rituals & Slow Well-Being
The slower rhythm continues around the table, where fresh, local and organic ingredients shape the food we eat, with some produce coming directly from the property's own garden. Breakfast is particularly rooted in this philosophy, bringing together homemade and locally sourced flavours that reflect the surrounding countryside.
For quieter moments, we can retreat to the spa, set within a space once connected to the house's winemaking past, or simply find our own ritual outdoors — a morning stretch, a walk through the forest, an afternoon beneath the trees, or a few uninterrupted hours doing very little.
We come for the stillness of the Catalan countryside, and linger for the feeling of returning to something simpler.
