Sardinia: A Helicopter Escape to Cavallo Island

You'll leave Sardinia behind by helicopter, rising above the brilliant waters of the Costa Smeralda and travelling north towards one of the Mediterranean’s most secluded islands. Below us, the La Maddalena archipelago unfolds in shades of turquoise and granite, while Lavezzi and the cliffs of Bonifacio appear in the distance before we descend onto Cavallo Island for a full day surrounded by sea.

The Experience

Above the Costa Smeralda

Our journey begins from northern Sardinia, with departures available from Olbia or Porto Cervo. From the air, we follow the coastline across the Costa Smeralda and La Maddalena archipelago, passing rocky islands, pale beaches and clear Mediterranean water on the way towards Cavallo.

A Day on Cavallo Island

Once we land, the pace changes completely. Cavallo is a tiny, car-free island between Sardinia and Corsica, with only one hotel and a small collection of private villas. We can spend the day discovering its wild beaches or settle into the peaceful surroundings of the island’s hotel and spa.

Lunch beside the Sea

During the day, we pause for lunch at the island’s restaurant, where the experience includes the chef’s specialties in a secluded setting surrounded by crystal-clear water. Afterwards, there is time to return to the beach or simply enjoy the stillness of the island before flying back to Sardinia.

The Return Flight

The experience ends with another panoramic helicopter journey, giving us a final view over the islands and coastline as we return towards northern Sardinia.
