Discovering Colour in the Landscape

You begin outdoors, gathering leaves, flowers and herbs. Looking closely at their shapes and colours, you discover how the island’s plants can become part of a textile, leaving traces of the landscape on silk.

Creating with a Textile Designer

The textile designer’s practice draws on studies of textile techniques in China and Bali, bringing an appreciation for natural materials and traditional processes to the work in Mallorca. At the finca, you are guided in arranging your gathered plants across a silk scarf or bandana, leaving room to experiment.

Unfolding the Unexpected

You roll and bind the silk, then use a natural dye bath or steam to develop the colours. Opening the bundle reveals the finished design: individual impressions and variations that make each piece your own.
