Istria: A Scenic Horseback Ride Along the Coast

In the wild landscapes of southern Istria, we leave the ranch behind and follow quiet trails towards the Adriatic. Forests and open meadows gradually give way to sea views and island-dotted horizons, creating a beautiful ride that brings together countryside, horses and the coast.

The Experience

Through Forests & Meadows

We begin inland, riding through the unspoiled countryside surrounding the ranch. The trail moves between forests and open meadows, giving us time to settle into the rhythm of our horses before the landscape gradually opens towards the sea.

Riding Towards the Adriatic

As we approach the coastline, views stretch across the water towards the surrounding islands. The route eventually reaches the sea, where we continue along the beach before turning back towards the countryside. 

A Different Pace for Every Rider

The experience remains accessible for less experienced riders, while those with greater confidence may have opportunities to trot or gallop along selected sections of the route. This allows us to experience the same coastal landscape at a pace suited to our riding ability.

Beyond the Experience

For experienced riders wanting to spend longer in the landscape, a separate route continues towards Cape Marlera and its historic lighthouse, with views towards Cres, Lošinj and the distant Velebit mountains. During the summer season, a separate longer experience also combines coastal riding with swimming in the sea alongside the horses.

There is something wonderfully freeing about discovering Istria from horseback—leaving the inland trails behind as the sea slowly appears between the trees, then riding beside the Adriatic with nothing but open landscape around us. It is a simple, beautiful way to experience the quieter side of the peninsula, guided by the rhythm of the horse and the changing coastline.
