We journey through the Douro Valley, following winding roads between terraced vineyards and the river that has shaped this landscape for generations. Panoramic viewpoints, a traditional boat journey and a visit to a local winery bring together the scenery, history and wine culture of the region in one slow day of discovery.

Through the Douro Landscape

We travel deeper into the wine country, pausing as views open across the Douro rivers and the vineyard-covered hills surrounding them. Along the way, a visit to a Museum offers a closer look at the traditions and history behind this remarkable landscape.

A Slow Journey Along the River

We step aboard a traditional rabelo boat for a gentle journey along the Douro. From the water, the valley takes on a different perspective, with steep vineyard terraces rising above the river and small estates appearing between the folds of the hills.

Wine in the Valley

The day continues at a local winery, where we discover another side of the Douro through a guided wine tasting. Surrounded by the landscape where the grapes are grown, we can slow down over each glass and learn more about the region’s enduring winemaking traditions.

Beyond the Experience

There is free time for lunch during the journey, allowing us to choose where we would like to pause before continuing through the valley. Lunch is not included. The experience can also be adapted for those already staying within the Douro region rather than travelling from Porto.

An Invitation

We experience the Douro from both land and water, moving slowly between vineyard-covered hills, quiet stretches of river and glasses of wine poured close to where the grapes were grown. It is a day that allows the landscape to unfold naturally, revealing the history and traditions held within the valley.
