In the Alentejo countryside, we settle into a centuries-old farm estate where rural life continues quietly around us. Historic agricultural buildings have been restored into understated rooms and cottages, while vineyards, olive trees, gardens and farmland stretch beyond them. We can step outside and wander straight into the landscape, following paths through the estate or simply watching the light change across the countryside. There is a sense that nothing here has been separated from its origins: food still begins in the garden, wine in the vineyard, and the pleasure of staying comes largely from living close to the land.

Life on the Farm

This remains a working farm, and that gives our days a natural rhythm. We are free to explore the estate and its gardens, including the organic kitchen garden where herbs, fruit and vegetables are cultivated according to the seasons. Rather than creating a polished version of country life, the landscape feels productive and lived in—a place where farming and hospitality continue alongside one another.

From Vineyard to Table

Wine is part of the life of the estate, with vineyards and an active winery woven into the landscape. We can walk or cycle among the vines at our own pace, while optional winery visits and tastings offer a closer introduction to the wines produced here.

That same connection to the land continues at the table. Seasonal ingredients come from the organic garden and farm where possible, complemented by produce from small local growers. The cooking remains grounded in the flavours and simplicity of the Alentejo, allowing meals to feel less like an occasion removed from the countryside and more like another way of experiencing it.

Rest, Naturally

Wellness takes its cues from the landscape too. The spa provides space for quieter hours, while treatments are available separately for those who want a more restorative ritual. Some treatments incorporate herbs and fruits from the organic garden, and optional yoga, Pilates and tai chi or chi kung sessions are held outdoors whenever conditions allow.

It feels less about retreating from the countryside than settling more deeply into it—moving slowly, spending time outside and allowing the simplicity of the surroundings to do much of the work.

Come for the open countryside, and settle into the quiet rhythm of life on the land.
